If you like the pictures but it's too many lines for your writer, just have them draw or color what they like and paste blank paper for them to "write" on the rest or they can dictate a story to you. I say "story," but as always with little learners, things that are real and close to their lives can be the most interesting. A story can be as simple as going to the park to play on the playground.
